Frequently asked questions

Is Rayern free to use?

Yes. Our calculators, guides and quote comparisons are free for homeowners. You never pay Rayern anything, and you are never obligated to sign with an installer.

Is solar still worth it now that the federal tax credit ended?

For many homes, yes. The 30% federal residential credit ended for systems installed after December 31, 2025, which raises the net cost. But electricity rates keep climbing, panel prices are near record lows, and many states and utilities still offer rebates or credits. Our calculator shows your payback period with and without local incentives so you can judge for yourself.

How accurate is the Rayern estimate?

It is a planning estimate built from your state's average electricity rate and sunlight, your bill, and typical installed prices. A real quote uses your exact roof, shading and utility rate plan, so final numbers can be higher or lower.

Will I get a flood of sales calls?

No. When you request quotes, you choose which pre-screened installers can see your project, and you can message them in writing first. Your phone number stays private until you decide to share it.

Can I go solar if I rent or my roof is not suitable?

Often, yes. Community solar lets you subscribe to a share of a local solar farm and earn credits on your electric bill, with no panels on your roof and usually no upfront cost.

Do I need a battery with solar?

Not always. A battery makes the most sense if your utility pays little for exported power, uses time-of-use rates, or if you want backup power during outages. Our battery guide helps you decide and size one.
